Setting tooth numbering system in 3Shape LMS
10/01/20253Shape LMS allows you to able set your default tooth numbering (or dental notation system) for your lab, as well as for individual clients.
Note: Changing the tooth numbering system in settings will not update the system for clients that are already created. You must change those from the Client List or the Client Profile.
Select the appropriate tab to learn how to change the default tooth number system; how to update the tooth numbering system for multiple clients in a batch; or how to update the tooth numbering system in their Client Profile.
1. Selecting the lab's default tooth numbering system
To change your default tooth numbering system:
Go to Settings > Client > Client Profile Defaults > Tooth numbering system
Choose FDI or UNS and click the blue Save button in the top right-hand corner. Changes will be updated the next time you log in.
*Note: This will be the default tooth numbering system for any Client Profiles created after the update.
2. Updating the default setting for multiple clients
You can change the tooth numbering system for multiple clients in a batch from the Client List page:
Go to Client > Client Profiles > Client list
1) Use check boxes to select clients
3) Click the Settings button and select "Tooth numbering system"
4) Select new setting and click "Apply"
3. Updating a single Client's default setting from their Profile
To update the tooth numbering system from the Client Profile:
Go to Client > Client Profiles > Client list
1) Click on the Client's name to open the profile
2) Click on the “Settings” tab and click “Edit”
3) Select from the "Tooth Numbering System" drop down menu and click “Update”
