24/11/2025

This article is relevant for Dx Standard and Dx Plus users.

Introduction

Dx Standard is part of the Dx module and is the improved version of TRIOS Patient Monitoring and represents the next step beyond TPM. Dx Standard builds on TPM’s most loved features with a refreshed user experience and introduces new tools for analyzing and presenting scans. Understanding Dx Standard and how it compares to TPM and how it differs from Dx Plus helps you choose the right solution for your practice.

Feature Comparison Breakdown

Scanner compatibility

TPM is compatible with all TRIOS scans except scans made with TRIOS Core, TRIOS 2, and older scanners.
Dx Standard is also compatible with all TRIOS scans except scans made with TRIOS Core, TRIOS 2, and older scanners.
Dx Plus is exclusively compatible with TRIOS 6 scans.

Analyze tools

Your favorite tools from TPM have been facelifted and included in Dx Standard under the Analyze tab. For single scans, Dx Standard offers cross section and distance ruler with improved usability. Dx Plus adds a surface area measurement tool for single scans. For scan pairs, TPM’s difference map has been split into two separate tools in Dx Standard: Tooth Movement and Gingiva Shape, allowing you to analyze these areas individually. Tooth Shape functionality is also included with a facelift. All tools available in Dx Standard are included in Dx Plus.

Present Tools

TPM’s visualize tools have been refreshed and included in Dx Standard under the Present tab for multi scans. Simulation now animates changes over time, and the slider comparison has been improved. Dx Standard introduces a new feature: side-by-side comparison of two scans. All tools available in Dx Standard are included in Dx Plus.

Diagnose Tools (exclusive to Dx Plus)

Dx Plus introduces AI-based indications for surface caries, tooth wear, gingival recession, and plaque, as well as the non-AI based proximal caries visualization to support patient communication and provide a second opinion. TPM offers caries indication visualization based on fluorescent data, this feature is not available on TRIOS 6 scans.

Additional Features

Both Dx Standard and Dx Plus include in-software tutorials to help you make the most of the Dx module. Dx Plus adds several exclusive features: PDF reporting for documenting diagnostic findings, the ability to share results directly with patients via the DentalHealth app, and access to Customer Success Manager support where available.
