Starting to use TRIOS 6 with Unite 24.1 – main scenarios

Introduction

This article describes steps to be taken once the user has received their new TRIOS 6 scanner. 

TRIOS 6 scanners are shipped from 3Shape factory with 3Shape Unite 24.1 (version 1.8.10.1) and it is important that they’re only used with this version of Unite or higher, as it contains features supporting the new TRIOS scanner model.

As one of such features, 3Shape Unite availability for a particular TRIOS 6 system is automatically triggered (deployed) by the fact of activating the cloud subscription for TRIOS 6. 

Depending on the scenario, different actions might be required during the first setup once the system has been shipped to the user. This article describes these scenarios with main steps of the setup process.

Scenario 1. User has a new 3Shape Company Account that doesn’t have any cloud licenses under it

1. Unbox your TRIOS 6 and start up Unite 24.1. 
2. Log in with your new 3Shape Company Account, accept Terms & Conditions, create a PIN code.
3. When asked to type the subscription activation code, use the 16-digit code that you can find on your TRIOS 6 box.
4. After subscription activation, wait until the system receives Unite III updates, which can take several minutes. Do not cancel the “Checking for updates” process or close Unite. Note that Unite may restart in the process. 
5. Once the process has been completed, you can start using your TRIOS 6 and Unite.

Scenario 2. User has an existing 3Shape Company Account that already has some cloud licenses under it

1. Contact 3Shape Support in advance before the system installation and provide them with your 3Shape Company Account, so that we can ensure that right version of Unite 24.1 has been made available to you. 
2. Unbox your TRIOS 6 and start up Unite 24.1.
3. Log in with your 3Shape Company Account, accept Terms & Conditions (if asked), create a PIN code.
4. Wait until the system receives Unite III updates, which can take several minutes. Do not cancel the “Checking for updates” process or close Unite. Note that Unite may restart in the process. 
5. Once the process has been completed, go to Unite Store > Licenses and press ‘Activate’. 
6. As the window with the activation process appears, type the 16-digit code that you can find on your TRIOS 6 box to get access to additional licenses purchased together with your TRIOS 6 scanner.
7. You can now start using your TRIOS 6 and Unite.

Scenario 3. TRIOS 6 is bought as a 2nd scanner for the clinic, and the existing system is still on Unite 23.1

This scenario depends on whether you would like to use TRIOS 6 as a standalone system, or you would like to connect it to an existing system:

3.1. Use TRIOS 6 as standalone system

Repeat the same steps as described in Scenario 1 or 2 above, depending on your Account type. The data (scans, patients, cases) created on each system will remain separate from each other. 

3.2. Use TRIOS 6 in connection with your 1st TRIOS scanner

1. Update your 1st scanner system to Unite 24.1. If when checking for updates in Unite Store nothing isoffered to you, contact 3Shape Support and provide them with your dongle and 3Shape Company Account, so that we can ensure that Unite 24.1 has been made available to you. Please indicate that you have a TRIOS 6 scanner to ensure you get the right version of Unite.
2. Once the update on 1st scanner system has finished, data and dongle licenses from that system will move into cloud of your 3Shape Company Account.
3. Unbox your TRIOS 6 system and start up Unite 24.1.
4. Log in with your 3Shape Company Account that was used on your 1st scanner system, accept Terms & Conditions (if asked), create a PIN code.
5. The system might check for Unite updates and install them. You might also experience that 1st system will be asked to update to the same version as your TRIOS 6 system. This is all needed to ensure that both devices are using the same Unite version.
6. Once the process has been completed, go to Unite Store > Licenses and press ‘Activate’.
7. As the window with the activation process appears, type the 16-digit code that you can find on your TRIOS 6 box to activate your additional licenses purchased together with your TRIOS 6 scanner.
8. You can now start using your TRIOS 6 and Unite.

Scenario 4. Reseller is logging in with their 3Shape Company Account instead of the user

This scenario is not recommended, as it can result in activation of end-user subscription for TRIOS 6 scanner under reseller Company Account, which means that the user Company Account will not have access to the licenses. If such thing has happened, you need to contact sales@3shape.com to move the ownership of subscription from reseller Company Account to end-user Company Account.
