How to Connect to A Trios Clinic
05/02/2026In this article, we'll show you how to connect to clients in order to receive Trios cases from Unite in your Case Inbox. In the first section, we'll go over how to connect with clients that you've already connected with in Communicate. In the second section, We'll go over how to connect to clients that aren't connected with your lab in Communicate.
- Go to Client > Client Connections

The Client Connections page displays a list of your clients, and indicates the LMS connection status.

Client Is Already Connected in Communicate
To connect in LMS, the client must also be connected in Communicate. If you are already connected to the client in Communicate, the Action column will show Send Connection Request.
- Locate the client you want to connect with and click Send Connection Request.
- In the pop-up box, select the correct client from the list and click “Add"
Note: If you don't see the correct client, you can search for their name or 3Shape email
Since you're already connected with the client in Communicate, the LMS connection is automatic. The Connection Status column will change to “Connected”
Client Is Not Connected in Communicate
If you are not currently connected to the client in Communicate, the Actions column will show Add 3Shape Account.
- Click Add 3Shape Account

The system will attempt to locate the clinic’s 3Shape account using the client’s email address.
You can also use the search bar to manually find the correct 3Shape account.
- In the pop-up box, select the correct client from the list and click “Add And Connect"
This sends a connection request to the clinic for approval.Once the client accepts the Connection Request, they will connected to your lab's Communicate and LMS. The Connection Status column will change from “Pending” to “Connected”
Client Connect FAQs
- How can see the different connection statuses? The Client Connection list will indicate which labs are connected in Communicate, which aren't, which connections are pending, and which are already connected in Communicate & LMS

- How will I know if something went wrong with my connection request? When submitting a connection request, you will get one of 3 messages in the bottom left corner of the screen:

- Success connection request sent, but Client needs to accept in Communicate:

- What if my client doesn't appear in the connection list? You can search for the Client's name or email address. You might need to verify the Client's 3Shape Company name or email address with for them. The name and/or email must match exactly.

- What if I choose the wrong client or no longer want a client to be connected in LMS? Simply remove the connection to disconnect LMS from the chosen client. This will NOT remove the client in Communicate

Can I connect with clients that don't have Trios (Unite software)? Not at this time.
