Step-by-Step Guide to Running Pathology Detection Tools – Gingival Recession
23/09/2025Introduction
This guide explains how to use the Gingival Recession detection tool in Dx Plus. The tool uses AI to assist in identifying and classifying gingival recession based on TRIOS 6 scan data. The AI analysis is based on the maximum distance of gingival recession at each site and supports objective diagnostics and improved patient communication.
Prerequisites
- Dx Plus subscription
- A compatible TRIOS scan
- (Optional) DentalHealth App for patient communication
Steps
-
Launch Dx Plus
Open the Dx Plus software on your device.
-
Enable Gingival Recession Detection
In the AI assistive tools section in the left functions panel, select Gingival Recession.
3. Review and Interpret AI-Generated Results
The software highlights areas of suspected gingival recession on the 3D model using the following color-coded indicators, based on the maximum measured distance of recession:
Level | Color Indicator | Description |
>0.25 mm | Light yellow | Recession between 0.25 mm and 0.5 mm |
>0.5 mm | Yellow | Recession between 0.5 mm and 3 mm |
>3 mm | Orange | Recession between 3 mm and 5 mm |
>5 mm | Red | Recession exceeding 5 mm |
Use the legend in the interface to identify the severity level for each site.
4. Document and Share
Save the results for clinical documentation. Optionally, share findings with the patient via the DentalHealth App.
