SureSmile - 3Shape Unite integration guide
15/11/2023Since September 2024, the SureSmile workflow has been seamlessly integrated within DS Core, and it now supports 3Shape scans. If you’ve connected your DS Core account with both 3Shape and SureSmile, you can take full advantage of this workflow to use your 3Shape scans effortlessly.
How to set up integration on SureSmile Portal
- In the SureSmile Portal, access the administration and external accounts section.

2. Select Link External Portals at the bottom of the page and choose link with DS Core.
3. Sign in to your DS Core account on DS Core.

Your SureSmile and DS Core accounts are now configured to communicate.
SureSmile accounts are tied to individual users. Every user who wants to retrieve data from 3Shape Communicate must confirm their access rights this way.
4. Pair Your Account with 3Shape:
- Click on the "Link with 3Shape Communicate" button.
- A pop-up window will appear. Enter your account credentials in the provided fields.

4. Once you're connected you will be able to upload scans from DS Core to SureSmile Ortho & Advanced Portal.
5. Click Upload scan data to add scans from DS Core to your order.

Create and send case to SureSmile - DS Core
1.Select the Patients tab in the upper left corner of Unite.
2.Create New patient or select an existing patient.

3. Once the patient is created, a new window appears.
4.Under the Scan & Send menu, select DS Core.

5.Choose restoration type in the Order Form and click Save.

6.Proceed with TRIOS scanning for the Lower, Upper jaws and a Bite scan.

7.Choose delivery date and click “Send” button.

Start SureSmile Workflow
You have two options for importing files:
- Upload from a Local Device. Select files directly from your local device.
- Upload from DS Core:
Please use the "Upload from DS Core" option. The system will automatically select the correct patient for you and only allow access to eligible scan files from the DS Core media library.

NOTICE! Scans conducted more than three months ago will not be shown here.

After integrating the intra oral scan(s) you can continue as usual and upload photos and finalize the order form.

- SureSmile users must establish a linkage with their 3Shape accounts. Click on "Link External Portals".
- Click on “Link with 3Shape Communicate” to finish pairing.
- Login with 3Shape Account credentials at 3Shape Communicate Portal.
SureSmile accounts are tied to individual users. Every user who wants to retrieve data from 3Shape Communicate must confirm their access rights this way.

4. Once finished, your SureSmile account is paired with 3Shape Account. 3Shape case page is now visible in SureSmile practice overview.
Clicking on "3Shape Scans" tab, will allow you to view any cases with scan data sent from 3Shape.

Create and send case to SureSmile
1.Select the Patients tab in the upper left corner of Unite.
2.Create New patient or select an existing patient.

3. Once the patient is created, a new window appears.
4.Under the Scan & Send menu, select SureSmile.
5.Choose restoration type in the Order Form and click Save.

Start SureSmile Workflow
Synchronization runs automatically when user selects the 3Shape cases tab. When synchronization is complete, user clicks 'reload' to update the page and the list of cases.

Synchronized 3Shape scans are listed when the tab is selected, and the page is reloaded.
Click “Assign SureSmile patient” button to link 3Shape scan to a SureSmile patient.

- For 3Shape case, click and select Scan Files – both files are required.
- SureSmile patient
- Select “New SureSmile patient” or “Existing SureSmile patient” (see NOTE)
- Enter First and Last Name
- Provide Date of Birth – Patient birthdate is required in SureSmile
- Assign scan data to order type

When “Existing SureSmile patient” is selected, user can search/select existing patients for assignment.
Depending on practice type, different assignment options will be offered.

Assignment Confirmation. After user selects one of the assignment options. Scan data is automatically assigned to the SureSmile order.

3Shape case has been successfully integrated. The action status for that patient changed to : “Unassign SureSmile patient”.

You may now proceed with order and treatment plan on SureSmile Portal.
