Troubleshooting Performance and Temperature Issues on MOVE+ 2.0
02/07/2026We would like to share guidance regarding occasional performance-related behavior observed on some MOVE+ 2.0 devices (1ZCxxx200xxx – Albatross).
You may notice one or more of the following symptoms:
- Slower system performance or reduced scanning speed (thermal throttling)
- Temporary system instability (e.g., lag or freezing)
- Higher device temperatures during intensive use
In most cases, these behaviors are related to operating conditions and do not indicate a hardware fault. To optimize performance and stability, please follow the best-practice recommendations outlined below and ensure that the device is configured and used according to the recommended operating guidelines.
Best practices for preventing overheating & performance issues
1. Reboot the MOVE+ regularly
- Intensive operations (e.g., long scanning sessions or heavy processing tasks) can increase system temperature
- It is recommended to restart the system regularly and power it off completely at the end of the workday
- Avoid running the system continuously for extended periods without a restart
2. Maintain cleanliness
- Regularly check for dust buildup around ventilation areas
- Keep the device environment clean to maintain proper cooling performance
3. Manage usage patterns
- Avoid continuous operation over long periods without breaks
- Allow the system to cool down between longer sessions when possible
- Periodic restarts can help reduce prolonged thermal load
4. Ensure proper airflow
- Keep ventilation openings unobstructed, especially at the bottom of the device
- Avoid using the device in enclosed spaces (e.g. drawers, cabinets)
5. Check environmental conditions
- Use the device in a well-ventilated room
- Avoid high ambient temperatures or placing the device near heat sources (radiators, direct sunlight)
Apply the MOVE+ script
To improve overall system performance and reduce the likelihood of temperature-related issues, we recommend running the script below. This will not resolve cases caused by an underlying hardware issue.
Important note: This script, along with other improvements, has already been implemented on new MOVE+ units. Before applying the script, please check the MOVE+ serial number. The serial number can be found on the back of the screen. If the serial number starts with SN-1ZCXX26200, the script should not be applied, as this MOVE+ already contains the necessary improvements.
Step 1: Download the script from here: DOWNLOAD (https://sftp.3shape.com/public/file/gkhkpohjqesh8ald1omsca/Move%2Bscript.bat)
Step 2: Go to Downloads by swiping up the screen and find Windows icon in the left corner.

Step 3: Find File Explorer and navigate to Downloads. Find the downloaded file with a script.
![]()
Step 4: Right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.
Step 5: When script is completed press any button to close the console.
Step 6: Delete the file at the end.
After running the script, the MOVE+ unit may produce slightly higher operating noise than before. Measurements show that noise levels can rise from approximately 40 dB to 42 dB, which remains within acceptable limits and should not be disruptive in normal clinical use.
Escalation Path
If the issue persists after applying the above steps, create a support case with 3Shape for further investigation.
When submitting a support case, make sure to include:
- Serial Number of MOVE+
- Description of the issue & its frequency, prerequisites for this issue happening on the system
- Applied troubleshooting & its outcomes, if relevant
- Any other additional material: system logs, screenshots, video, etc.
Contact 3Shape Support if you have any further questions.
