TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic Aid – in-clinic case

Introduction to TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic Aid

Understanding why, how, and when a treatment is needed is the doctor’s assessment. TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic Aid can help the doctor assess the situation as well as communicate with the patient.

Clinical Case: Dr. Martin Heiden's Experience

General practitioner Dr. Martin Heiden used TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic aid in a case where he expected a caries indication only on one molar but got a surprising result.

After visual inspection, Dr. Martin Heiden found a clear sign of a crack with a cavity in the 2nd molar. He made a TRIOS Scan enabling the patient to see it as well.

A TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic scan clearly indicated that it was not only the 2nd but also the 3rd molar that demanded attention.

Using Caries Diagnostic Aid is used to confirm a suspicion of caries, as a communication tool with the patient and in this case also to detect other areas that the dentist should take a closer look at.

The TRIOS 4 Caries Diagnostic scan is made on top of the TRIOS scan. The red areas indicate clusters of bacteria.

Taking a closer look into a large area needs to be removed before restoring the tooth.

With help from the TRIOS Caries Diagnostic scan Dr. Martin Heiden could fix both exposed teeth.
