Software Subscription Renewal
25/06/2025This article explains how software subscription renewals work for all subscriptions purchased through our 3Shape Webshop platform. It covers what to expect at the end of a trial or billing period, how billing is aligned with your main TRIOS Care or Only subscription if applicable and how to prepare in advance to avoid service interruptions.
If you purchased your software subscription from a reseller, please contact your reseller for questions regarding renewal.
If you were looking for the instruction to renew your Trios Care subscription, please refer to 3Shape Webshop Guide: How to Renew License - 3Shape.
For details on how we invoice software products alongside TRIOS Care, see the section How Subscription Billing Works below.
Preparing for Your Renewal
Prior to your next billing date review the following:
-
Ensure your payment method is valid
Verify that your card or payment method is up to date. You can update it anytime in your account settings. -
Make any changes before your renewal date
To change your plan, billing frequency, or cancel your subscription, please do so at least 48 hours before your renewal to ensure we have time to process the changes. -
Check your account information
Ensure your billing details (such as email address, company name, or VAT ID) are accurate to avoid delays or incorrect invoices.
How Subscription Billing Works
First Renewal After a Trial or New Plan
When your trial ends or you begin a paid subscription:
- You will be charged a prorated amount up to the 1st of the upcoming month
- After this period, your subscription is aligned with your main Product A subscription (if applicable)
For example:
- Your trial ends on June 18
- You are charged for June 18–30 (prorated)
-
On July 1, you receive an invoice that includes:
- A prorated fee covering June 18–30
- An alignment fee syncing your subscription with your TRIOS Care billing cycle.
Once TRIOS Care is renewed, your software subscription will also renew for a full term, unless your products have different billing frequencies (e.g., monthly vs. annual). If you are not a TRIOS Care subscriber, you can disregard this part.
Can I extend my trial period?
We do not offer trial extensions once a trial has converted to a paid subscription. Trials that have not been cancelled 48 hours before the renewal will automatically be converted to paid subscriptions and billed according to the renewal schedule.
Key Dates to Understand
-
Charge Date
This is the date from which your usage is calculated and your subscription is considered active. When you are on a trial, the charge date is the trial expiry date, which can be found on your profile. -
Invoice Date & Payment Capture
On the 1st of the following month, we generate your invoice and process payment based on the usage or charges calculated from your charge date.
What If You Cancel After Renewal?
If you cancel your subscription after a renewal has been processed:
- Your access will continue until the end of the billing period.
- Refunds are not issued mid-cycle, in accordance with our Refund Policy
For cancellation instructions, please see our full guide: How to Cancel Your Subscription.
