Creating Separate Margin Lines for a Coping and Crown on the Same Tooth in Dental Designer

Dental Designer does not currently support creating separate margin lines for a coping and a crown on the same tooth within a single order.

As a result, when designing both restorations in the same order, they share the same margin line.

This limitation can present challenges for users who need to design a coping on a half-die and a crown down to the margin line on the same tooth. 

The ability to create separate margin lines for a coping and a crown within a single order is under consideration for a future version of Dental System.

Workaround

Step 1: Create a new order containing only the coping.

Step 2: Design and manufacture the coping.

Step 3: Seat the coping in the patient's mouth.

Step 4: Scan the coping.

Step 5: Create a new order for the crown.

Step 6: Design the crown using the new scan.
