Assigning a technician from Production
29/01/2025This article shows you how to assign technicians, by default or manually, to tasks or cases.
There are several benefits of using technician assignment:
- Schedules can be printed in advance for each technician.
- Technicians can receive credit for the tasks or cases they complete, which can then be viewed in the Technician Productivity report.
- You can limit technician login view so that technician can only see cases assigned to them.
- You can prevent technicians from proceeding (signing off on) cases that are not assigned to them, which can prevent data entry errors.
You can assign technicians automatically using manufacturing schedules. So if technician Jon Doe is always the designer for a particular manufacturing schedule, you can set him as the default technician. Jon will be assigned automatically for any case unassigned to that manufacturing schedule. Even if a technician is assigned to a case or task automatically, you can still change technician assignment during the manufacturing process.

Assign technicians from production search results
The simplest way to assign technicians to multiple cases at a time is in the production search results on the Production Dashboard.

Assign technician from the Production Dashboard in the technician case record view
If you prefer to assign technicians only when moving a case forward, there are several ways to do this. If you're barcoding from production search results or technician login, just select the technician in the dropdown on the technician details screen before clicking "Proceed."

Assigning technician during batch scan (barcode scanning)
If you are batch barcoding from production search results or technician login, click "Assign Tech," then enter the username for the technician. Successfully added usernames will appear below the technician box.
*If you click "Proceed" without assigning technician, technician credit will go to either the previously assigned technician or the current user.
