IP Address Update For 3Shape Cloud Services on April 20th, 2024, FAQ

To improve service performance, 3Shape will update the IP address for 3Shape Cloud Services on April 20th, 2024 at 9:00 CET. If your practice or lab is using a whitelisting network security policy based on IP addresses you will need to ADD IP 104.45.193.253 to the whitelist before April 20th, 2024, so that your cloud service is not disrupted. When and what will happen during this update?

 The update will happen on April 20th, 2024.

Can I use my 3Shape Cloud services during the update? 

 Yes, it will be possible to use 3Shape cloud services on April 20th, 2024. However, a degradation in sending and receiving cases via 3Sshape Communicate can occur. The cases that fail to be sent/download, will need to re-send/download once the IP address change is set.

Who will be affected by this update?

The update will only affect users (labs or practices) that use a network security protocol based on a whitelist of IP addresses to control outbound communication.

 My practice or lab uses a network security protocol that does not rely on IP but on URL. Will I be affected?

If your practice or lab does not rely on an IP address but instead on a URL, then you DO NOT have to act, and your services will not be disrupted.

My practice or lab does not have any firewall or strict network security protocol. Will I be affected?
 No. You will NOT have to take action. This update will only impact users who have a network security policy that relies on whitelisting IP addresses.

My practice or lab uses a network security protocol that relies on whitelisting IP addresses. What will be the impact on my practice or lab after April 20th, 2024, if I do not take action? 

If you do not take action in this case, 3Shape cloud services will be disrupted. It will not be possible to send/receive cases via 3Shape communicate, or to log in to 3Shape’s internet portals.

 

My practice or lab uses a whitelisting network security policy based on IP addresses. What should I do to prevent any disruption to my services?

You must add the IP 104.45.193.253 to the whitelist before the Update of the IP happens on April 20th, 2024. To do so: 

  1. Please contact your IT provider or Network administrator and inform them to ADD the IP address 104.45.193.253 to the whitelist, so your services are not disrupted.
  2. After IP 104.45.193.253 is updated on April 20th,2024, the IP 137.116.115.186 will no longer be valid, and it can be removed from the whitelist.  Do not remove or overwrite the IP 137.116.115.186 before this happens.

 My practice or lab uses a network security protocol that relies on whitelisting IP addresses, and I did not take action before the update. What should I do?

If you do not add the IP address 104.45.193.253 before the update, to restore your services you will need to contact your IT provider or Network administrator and ask him/her to ADD the IP address 104.45.193.253 to the whitelist. Once this is done your services will be restored.
 After the update happens, the IP 137.116.115.186 will no longer be valid, and it can be removed from the whitelist. 

If the IP 104.45.193.253 was already added to my whitelist, should I take extra action? 

No, if the IP 104.45.193.253 is already in your whitelist, no action is needed, your services will not be affected.
