How to enable LinuDent integration with Dental Desktop

Prerequisites for the integration:

• Dental Desktop 1.7.19.x or higher. 
• LinuDent version 119.1.2.1 or higher. 
• LinuDent and Dental Desktop must be installed on the same computer.  
• Both standalone and client-server setups are supported, see Known Limitations.

3Shape TRIOS on Dental Desktop and LinuDent (PMS) integration provides automation of patient management in Dental Desktop from LinuDent (Create, merge, and update patient) and allows you to open Dental Desktop directly from the patient chart in LinuDent for faster and easier workflows. This integration also provides transfer of clinic photos from Dental Desktop to LinuDent.  Read more about LinuDent here.

How to enable the integration in Dental Desktop

1. In 3Shape Dental Desktop, go to More > Settings > Practice Management Integration > Setup and click the "Enable" checkbox in the "VDDS Interface" section to enable the integration.

Select VDDS as the integration type.

Enter valid credentials in the menu; use the same username and password as used for 3Shape Dental Desktop. Test connection should be successful.

You have now enabled the interface used for the integration in 3Shape Dental Desktop. Now you can proceed with enabling integration in LinuDent software.

How to enable the integration in Linudent

Please consult LinuDent documentation. The following steps are provided as an aid to set up the integration in LinuDent software.

1. In LinuDent, navigate to the Linudent tab > System > Konfiguration.
   
2. Select Einstellungen > VDDS-Schnittstelle.
   
3. Click VDDS-Media Schnittstelle and select 3Shape Dental Desktop in the dropdown list.
   
4. Select VDDS aktivieren to activate integration and save changes.
   
5. Restart LinuDent software.
6.  You have now activated the integration.

Known limitations

• LinuDent and Dental Desktop must be installed on the same computer.
• Both standalone and client-server setups are supported (from Dental Desktop version 1.7.19.1), but the integration currently does not support Dental Desktop server-client installation on TRIOS MOVE/MOVE+, as installing PMS client on TRIOS MOVE/MOVE+ is not supported.
• Patient updates are only available from LinuDent to Dental Desktop, not the other way around.
