Customizing lab order forms with TRIOS Order Form Editor

The TRIOS Order Form Editor allows a dental lab to create and customize order form templates for connected TRIOS clinics. This ensures that clinics can only select the materials and indications offered by the lab.

TRIOS Order Form Editor can be downloaded from 3Shape Community Portal. The workflow for creating templates is guided and includes explanations at each step.

Initial steps in creating and editing TRIOS order form templates

Step 1: Open the TRIOS Order Form Editor. You will be presented with two template options:

• Reset template
• Load existing template

Select "Reset template" if you want to create a new template from scratch. All materials and indications must be configured manually.

Select "Load existing template" if you want to edit an existing template or load a material file exported from 3Shape Dental System

Step 2: Export materials from Dental System (if required). To export lab materials:

• Open "3Shape Dental System Control Panel"
• Go to "Export/Import Materials"
• Select "Export Clinic Materials" (Dental System 2020 and newer)
• In older versions, select "Export Materials"

The exported file is saved as a .DME file.

Step 3: Select template type and enter general information. Fill in the required fields:

• Template name
• Lab name (visible to clinics)
• Template version
• Minimum order delivery time

Step 4: Click "Next" to continue.
 

Defining materials and indications in TRIOS order form templates

Step 1: Choose options on materials page. On the materials configuration page, you can:

• Add or remove materials
• Change material ID
• Set material ranking (controls display order in the TRIOS order form)
• Define restrictions for:
  • Tooth-borne indications
  • Implant-borne indications
  • Unit type (single unit, multi-unit, or all)
• Add or update material images

Click "Next" when finished.

Step 2: Define indications for your lab. On the indications page, you can:

• Add or remove indications
• Assign materials to each indication
• Rename indication design labels
• Apply indications to a single material or multiple materials at once

Click "Next" to continue.

Step 3: Select implant systems (if applicable). Choose which implant systems your lab supports by selecting them from the available list.

Click "Next" to proceed.

Exporting and uploading customized TRIOS templates in Dental System

Step 1: Export the completed template. Once all settings are configured, select "Export Template".

You can export in one of the following formats:

• .DME file (default, recommended)
• .XML file (used for older TRIOS software versions)

The .DME format is compatible with TRIOS Dental Desktop systems. The .XML format is used for clinics running older software versions (earlier than 1.7.5.1).

Step 2: Upload the template to Communicate. To make the template available to clinics:

• Sign in to your 3Shape Communicate account
• Open the Lab Profile
• Go to "Customize Order Form"
• Upload the exported template file
