How to back up your data in 3Shape Unite

In case it is required to save all the information from Unite software like user's cases, settings, operators for the currently installed version (to be used later in case of a data loss or system failure), the software backup is necessary, and this is possible using Backup & Restore tool in the software from any version since 1.7.19.1.

Before doing a backup, consider the below information (it will be necessary for data restoring)

1. It can be done only on the same version of Unite as the one where the backup was created, reason why we always recommend checking for updates before save the back up. 
2. It should be done with the same dongle as the one with which backup was created.
3. This tool doesn't backup TRIOS streams. Streams should be backed up on each client computer where scanning is done to properly saves the scan data, in case you need to edit or modify it.
4. All cases have to be post-processed or sent before doing the backup. If there are not post-processed/unsent cases, backup TRIOS streams should be manually saved by copying the folder from C:\ProgramData\3Shape\DentalDesktop\ThreeShape.TRIOS\ to the backup location.

How to do a backup from the software

1. Run Unite and go to More > Settings > General > Backup & Restore
2. Select Backup and browse to the folder where you want to save it:
3. Click Yes:
4. If User Account Control message pops-up, click Yes:
5. Application will be restarted after some time and .3ddbackup file will be saved in the corresponding folder you previously selected.NOTE: Verify that the file size of the backup created matches the file size of the information stored on the system. If there is an inconsistency this might generate an error message when attempting to restore it. 
6. Restore the backup by following the steps in the corresponding article.
