Basic Troubleshooting for Dongle Issues

Types of Dongles

You may have one of the following USBs (Dongles):

Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure the dongle is connected and has a green light on it.

  1. If the Dongle is connected but is not lighting up or is not recognized, try to move it to a different USB port by the PC.
     
  2. Verify that the time is properly set up on the PC, if it is not adjusted by searching “Day & Time settings”, verify your time zone is correct and that the “set time automatically” Is turned on.  

  3. Make sure no antivirus, defender, or firewall is blocking the Dongle from being recognized. You could disable them temporarily to follow the next steps to see if this solves the issue. Later you can enable them and add exceptions to 3Shape applications. 

  4. Go to Windows services (Press on the keyboard “Windows key” + R and search “services.msc”) and restart
     
  5.  the dongle services.

 

  1. On any internet browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, Firefox, etc.) search on the upper search bar “localhost:27027”, and press the button that says Update Dongle.
  1. If the Dongle shows an error starting: “a Dongle protection error…” or “Time tampering issue” Please contact 3Shape Support.
