Dental System allows you to export scans in STL and PLY formats from Dental Manager for scanned and designed orders.
Note: The TRIOS Scan STL Export option should be enabled on dongle to use this workflow
Note: PLY export is only available from Dental System 2021
Scans can be exported from the accepted orders only. If you received an order from Communicate, Trios Direct Connection, or FTP, please proceed to Inbox, accept the order first, return to the Orders tab, and do the following:
Step 1. Right-click the order and proceed to Advanced -> Export scan:
* If the Export Scan button is missing, contact your reseller to obtain the TRIOS Scan STL Export option for your dongle.
Step 2. In the subsequent windows select the following:
• Y-axis (Save model with Y-axis or Z-axis up?)
• No (Decimate scan?
• Yes (Save Scan as separate files?)
* These options are recommended, but you can export scans with customized parameters.
Step 3. In the pop-up window, navigate to the folder where you want to save your STLs:
Step 4. Under the Save as type drop-down menu, select the desired format (STL or PLY): 
Step 5. Press Save. This window will pop up for each scan in the order.
Since Trios scans have the same name, ensure each subsequent scan has a unique name by renaming it manually. Otherwise, the scans will be overwritten and lost:
