Maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting steps, among other things, may differ depending on the type of scanner you have. It is important to know which type of scanner you own to ensure that you can receive the right type of information.
The TRIOS 3 scanner body is grey and white, while the TRIOS 4 scanner body is black and white. Wired means you use a cord to connect the scanner to the setup (i.e. MOVE+ or POD), while Wireless means you do not use the cord to connect the scanner to the setup. Understanding TRIOS 3 Scanners: Basic, Wired, and Wireless Options
The TRIOS 3 (Basic) scanner body is grey and white. The TRIOS 3 Basic only comes in Wired form, meaning there is no Wireless option. When you purchase a TRIOS 3 (not Basic) you have the option to choose Wired or Wireless. Wireless scanners can also be used in Wired form. To know which applies to you, check if there is a cord attached to the back of the scanner. Regardless of whether you purchased a Wired or Wireless scanner, you should consider your usage. If you use the Wireless scanner as a Wired scanner (i.e. you use a cord to plug it into your base system, such as the POD or MOVE+), then consider it a Wired scanner for troubleshooting purposes.

The TRIOS 4 scanner body is black and white. While you can only purchase TRIOS 4 as a Wireless scanner, you can use it as both a Wired and Wireless scanner with the TRIOS smart cord.
