Quick guide to the different TRIOS scanners

07/11/2023

It is important to know which type of scanner you own to ensure that you can receive the right type of information. This material is only for support purposes so you can ensure you know what type of scanner you have.  If you'd like to learn more about the differences between scanners and their features, see here.

TRIOS 6

TRIOS 6 is available in Arctic Sapphire color and similarly to TRIOS 5 it has a LED ring next to the scan tip. It is available only in a wireless set up, in a pod, or MOVE Pro configuration. Note that only wireless troubleshooting articles apply.

TRIOS 5

The TRIOS 5 scanner body is white with only a black slot for the battery and has a LED ring close to the front tube. The TRIOS 5 only comes in Wireless form and is 30 % smaller compared to other scanners. Consider that for this scanner only troubleshooting articles for Wireless scanners can be applied.

TRIOS 4

The TRIOS 4 scanner body is black and white.  While you can only purchase TRIOS 4 as a Wireless scanner, you can use it as both a Wired and Wireless scanner with the TRIOS smart cord.  Consider your usage to know if you need troubleshooting articles for Wired or Wireless scanners. If you use the Wireless scanner as a Wired scanner (i.e. you use a cord to plug it into your base system, such as the POD or MOVE+), then consider it a Wired scanner for troubleshooting purposes.

TRIOS 3

Over the years we have introduced various TRIOS 3 models, you can most easily differentiate between them by colour and connectivity.
TRIOS 3 (2024) is available in a new Twilight Titanium colour, and it’s now fully powered by PC due to USB-C connectivity.

TRIOS 3 (2015, 2017) scanner body is grey and white, available both in wired and wireless configuration. TRIOS 3 Basic is available in the same colour, but only as a wired scanner and without Engagement Apps.

Contact 3Shape Support if you have further questions. For full information on correct usage, please consult the official Safety & Setup Guide and the most recent User Manual.
