09/11/2023Upgrading to Dental System-2019: Understanding enhanced GPU and CPU requirements
ScanItDental in Dental System-2019 and above is more depended on the PC resources than in previous Dental System releases – due to updated tracking algorithms and faster scanning.
If the GPU is not powerful enough or if it’s not properly configured, there may be errors or performance issues during scanning. It is recommended to check if the PC meets the requirements before upgrading the system to Dental System-2019 version or above.
Check latest PC catalogue with your reseller for more information about current system requirements.
GPU requirements for best performance are the following:
- Nvidia GeForce or Nvidia Quadro (2 GB RAM sufficient, 4-6 GB RAM recommended);
- GPU’s Compute Capability should be 5.0 or more (check by GPU model on Nvidia's website);
- Latest drivers available should be downloaded from Nvidia website and installed (see how in article “How to update Nvidia graphics card drivers”);
- Configure the Nvidia graphics card for best performance (see: “How to set Nvidia graphics card to high performance”)
CPU requirements:
- Intel Core i7 or equivalent is recommended for improved performance.
- CPU with AVX instructions set support is required for scanning with all E-scanners. Coreinfo tool from Microsoft can help to check if the CPU supports AVX.
